Bernhard Schnur became a cult figure in the Austrian alternative music scene with his band "Snakkerdu Densk"
In the 90ies they were an integral part of the Vienna scene played sold out concerts around the country and toured Switzerland, former Yugoslavia and parts of Germany...
After the departure of their drummer in 1998 the band struggled to find a replacement...
A tour with Irish indy-stars "The Frames" in 2002 was the first chapter in an attempted come-back...concerts like at the legendary Donauinsel Festival in 2003 followed but the recording of studio album number 5 was stopped and The band has not continued yet...

Already in 2003 Bernhard Schnur had started to play a number of Solo shows and in 2006 he eventually decided to focus on a solo career...
His is currently recording his first solo-album...
In early 2007 he was invited by Glen Hansard to open up two Shows for the Frames in Austria Over the last 3 years Bernhard has travelled and performed in Poprad, Prague, Brno, Zurich, Vienna, Salzburg etc.etc.


His stage persona might well be inspired by anarchic comedians like the legendary Andy Kaufman (usa) and always borders on the surreal...

Schnur is a character that could inhabit any quality underground comic...he is a forlorn pop-scholar, a master of the 3 minute melodic artefact, a part time Dadaist and a "ganzkoerper" performance-artist

schnur´s pop sensibility allows melodic rollercoaster rides that are rare in these parts of the world... it turns out that he is the narrator of an epic beat novel set in central and eastern europe...
his soul is possessed by fits of balkan fever...some of his songs are based on vivid images from psychedelic dreams ...

While during his performance he becomes his own humanoid synthesizer with making strange noises as you will see in his creative/recording process he remains a digital free zone...
